Our inpatient Care of the Elderly service is based across two wards:
We co-ordinate our services with community teams across Tameside & Glossop and also provide an Acute Frailty Service streamlined through A&E to prevent admission and promote community care.
Our team is comprised of consultants, specialty doctors and a team of dedicated physiotherapists.
People treated by our Care of the Elderly service benefit from the following:
- An acute frailty service, accessed through A&E, that specialises in the timely assessment and management of older patients with complex health and social needs. Our service seeks to promote safe, effective, and timely holistic care for patients that, where possible, occurs in a community setting
- Occupational therapy
- Physiotherapy designed to improve physical function and independence to minimise risk of falls and improve mobility as well as psychological and social wellbeing
- Speech and language therapy
- Co-ordination with social services to prioritise care taking place outside of a hospital setting where possible.
