Welcome to the department
Oral and maxillofacial surgery provides a diagnostic and treatment service to children and adult patients who have more complicated problems with their mouth or face/neck that require surgical and/or medical treatment. Treatment maybe provided under local anaesthetic, intravenous sedation or a day case general anaesthetic.
The service is lead by consultant surgeons Mr Bayoumi, Mr Aleid, Mr Adwan and Mr Baldwin.
Conditions treated include:
- Head and neck cancer.
- Skin cancer.
- Facial deformity.
- Salivary gland disease.
- Facial trauma.
- Surgery on teeth, and jaw lesions.
- Facial pain management.
- Dental implants (limited indications under NHS)
- Oral medicine conditions requiring diagnosis and treatment
Orthodontics provides a diagnostic, treatment planning and treatment service to children who require complex management of their occlusion/teeth. Adults are treated if they need a multi-disciplinary approach for combined orthodontic/facial surgery or orthodontics and implants. The service is lead by consultant orthodontist Dr Nicky Mandall and Dr Claire Bates.
