A new service to support residents to keep in work is being piloted in Tameside.
WorkWell helps Tameside residents who are struggling with their health while working, have recently lost their job, or need support with health, skills, or finding work to get back on track.
The friendly team can offer a range of tailored support which can help residents identify and understand their current barriers to starting and succeeding in work and support them to draw up a plan to overcome challenges.
This support could include advice on workplace adjustments, such as flexible working or adaptive technology, facilitating conversations with employers on health needs, and providing access to local services.
Tameside residents are eligible for support if they are currently employed and struggling to manage in work or have recently become unemployed due to a health condition.
Councillor Leanne Feeley, Executive Member Lifelong Learning and Culture said: “We are really pleased to be part of the Greater Manchester WorkWell Partnership which is being piloted in fifteen areas of the UK. Managing a health condition and working can be challenging and affects many of our residents, so I am sure this additional support will be well received.”
More information and a WorkWell referral form can be found at www.tameside.gov.uk/WorkWell or by calling the team on 0161 342 3111.
The team will also be available at the Work and Skills Drop in on Thursday 19 December at Ashton Library from 3.30pm-7.30pm.
