Local patients are directly benefitting from the Trust’s high performance in a procedure used to check the function of a patient’s heart know as an echocardiogram (Echo).

An ‘echo’ as it’s more commonly known, is a painless procedure which takes around 45 minutes to complete and is often undertaken with a patient prior to surgery or if there are concerns about the function of a patient’s heart.

The team at Tameside and Glossop have been consistently outperforming all other Trusts in Greater Manchester since July, with latest figures showing this is still the case. Nationally NHS Trusts are expected to see a patient for an echo within six weeks of referral.

The success and performance of the team has been attributed to the commitment of the staff in the department as well as a willingness to fill weekend clinic appointments for the benefit of patients.
