Two Tameside nurses have received prestigious national recognition for outstanding community care.
Jennifer Laycock and Fiona Munro-Muotune will officially become Queen’s Nurses at a Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI) ceremony later this year.
The pair stood out among thousands of nurses across England, Wales and Northern Ireland following a rigorous online application process.
Jen Laycock
Jen is an Immunisation Lead Nurse, leading on the safe delivery of the national school-aged immunisation programme.
A nurse for 27 years, Jen ensures teams from Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT are working together with other organisations to protect school-aged children and ensure high uptake of the National Immunisation programme.
Fiona Munro-Muotune
Fiona’s role as Clinical & Strategic Lead for Infant Feeding helps to provide specialist baby feeding clinics for parents in a wide range of community settings.
Based at Union Street Clinic in Hyde, Fiona also leads an integrated team to deliver Baby Friendly Standards, a Unicef-accredited programme which supports families with feeding and helps parents build a close and loving relationship with their baby.
Becoming a Queen’s Nurse provides formal recognition of our nurses’ commitment to improving care for patients.
They are also able to access ongoing leadership and development opportunities, and a professional network of Queen’s Nurses, enabling them to continue to deliver the best standards of care.
Head of Nursing-Children and Young People at TGICFT, Kerry Taylor, said: “I am delighted Jen and Fiona have been recognised with the Queen’s Nurse title and I send them my wholehearted congratulations.
“This title recognises a huge amount of hard work and dedication to their respective areas and being selected from thousands of nominations is no mean feat.
“I wish them well as Queen’s Nurses and look forward to seeing their considerable knowledge and expertise passed down to their colleagues and realised through the delivery of outstanding patient care.”
