Stars from Tameside & Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust were celebrated at the annual staff awards on Friday 8 November at the Monastery in Gorton.
The Everyone Matters Awards are our opportunity to celebrate our successes and highlight our teams and staff that are exceptional and go above and beyond for our patients.
Winners were crowned in 11 categories out of more than 300 nominees.
The winner for each award can be viewed below.
Winner: Ingrid Titchem
In her role as volunteer administrator for the Lead Admiral Nurse, Ingrid has supported the Immersive Dementia Simulation training as well as helping support the provision of staff training and development. Ingrid thinks outside of the box to improve patient experience.
In Ingrid's absence, the award was presented to fellow volunteer, Mike Ramsden.
Winner: Fabiane Norris
Fabiane led on the Accelerated Development Programme, an innovative programme to support nurses recruited internationally. Participants have commented on how valued and supported they feel under Fabiane’s leadership, and nurses from underrepresented backgrounds are progressing in their careers at a faster rate than ever before at our Trust.
Winner: Critical Care
Critical Care’s use of VR headset training has immeasurably improved patient care. As well as being a more engaging form of training, it has reduced the time lost by staff to training hours, slashed the number of consumables and saved the Trust thousands of pounds. It also gained national media attention, featuring in an article in the Financial Times.
Winner: Sherrilee Jones
Sherrilee was nominated by her peers for an unmatched commitment to the Medical Records department. Colleagues told us she always listens to concerns, contributes in all areas of the department and is a trusted manager. She supports her team like a family and they have told us she creates a wonderful working environment.
Winner: The Internship Programme
Led by Melanie Lamb, the Internship Programme offers young people with learning disabilities and additional needs the opportunity to develop employability skills in a real-life working environment. By working closely with Active Tameside and Tameside College, Mel and the team ensure our interns have a rich experience of working in the NHS. With Mel’s support, many are going on to thrive in permanent roles, both here and elsewhere.
Winner: Community Deteriorating Patient Steering Group
The Group’s patient safety initiative has reduced deteriorating patient and sepsis harm by implementing a community policy and pathways to support all community services. This has resulted in the avoidance of hundreds of hospital admissions and the transferral of relevant patients to our Emergency Department in a timely manner.
Winners: Dr Thomas Lee; Adam Hussain; Nicola Schofield; Samir Parmar; Paul Gill; Mike Ramsden
The judges felt these individuals deliver a standard of service that consistently exceeds expectations. They demonstrate and sustain improvements which contribute to quality care and safety and delivering improvements and efficiency in their service.
Winner: Claire Harvey
Claire has created a Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) passport for children and young people. Led by patients she works with, it contains information about the child’s health records and their needs. She has shown great compassion to support professionals to guide families in how care is given through relationships based on empathy, respect and dignity.
Winner: Mina Warden
As part of her mission to improve experiences for families and their children aged 0-5, Mina developed a parent/carer network. Mina undertook a wealth of research, reaching out to networks we traditionally struggle to engage with, to transform the health visiting service, ensuring it is user-driven and centred around our patients. She has also attracted national attention for this work, including from the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer for England.
Winner: Catering & Retail Team
Our Catering Team deliver more than 600 freshly cooked meals a day to patients within Tameside Hospital, as well as servicing visitors and staff with an additional 800 plus meals a day on average. The team are consistently supporting staff to upskill, excelling in catering assessments and going the extra mile during national celebrations or other themed events.
Winner: Stroke Service
Our teams have collaborated to improve the care of patients in Tameside and Glossop who have had a stroke. After receiving an ‘A’ in the national stroke audit early last year for the very first time, they have maintained this rating and work closely together to ensure a seamless transition for patients returning home.
