The security team at Tameside Hospital are taking on a popular hiking challenge in aid of the Trust's Children's Unit.

A group of dedicated EQUANS staff will tackle the gruelling Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge in September.

The whopping 24-mile hike takes in the summits of the stunning Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough peaks.

All money raised will go towards providing the Children's Unit with updated sensory equipment and other items for their sensory room.

The sensory room is a specially designed room which combines a range of stimuli to help babies, infants and children develop and engage their senses.

These can include lights, colours, sounds, sensory soft play resources and aromas, all used within a safe environment.

Carl Beresford, security officer, said: “I spoke with the Children’s Unit about our plans, and they were absolutely over the moon that we chose their unit for our fundraising efforts."

Donations towards their challenge can be made via their dedicated Go Fund Me page.
