Dr Kailash Chand, local GP and Chair of Healthwatch Tameside has sadly passed away at the age of 73.

Dr Chand was a much loved local GP and previously held the position of Chair of Tameside and Glossop Primary Care Trust. Kailash also had a national profile through his involvement with the British Medical Association, where he had been Deputy Chair of Council and had been awarded the position of Honorary Vice-President.

Kailash will be remembered for his dedication and shared values with the National Health Service. He was a genuine advocate for the NHS and always put the patient at the heart of every decision. Kailash was awarded an OBE in 2010 for services to the NHS and healthcare.

Our deepest sympathy and thoughts go out to Kailash’s son, Aseem, and family and friends for their loss.

Rest in peace, Kailash.
