Two more members of staff at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS FT have been recognised for their exceptional work by picking up a Who’s Your Hero award.
Presented by Chief Executive, Karen James OBE, nominees are put forward by both fellow colleagues and patients in our services.
Clinical Nurse Specialist, Jess Slater, was nominated by a patient’s daughter who felt her commitment to her mother’s care during a hip replacement could not go unrecognised.
The patient, who was nervous about her treatment, was constantly reassured and supported by Jess throughout her time at the Hospital.
Jess met with the patient before the operation, visited her every day on the ward to check on pain relief, made sure the patient knew exactly what to do with her medication before discharge and followed up with further check-ins once she was home.
Jess’ dedication meant that the patient, despite arriving at the hospital with some trepidation, had the best possible experience.
Sarah Barton, a care support worker on Ward 45, also won a Who’s Your Hero award in recognition of her unwavering dedication to patients.
Sarah had received praise in a thank you email from a patient for all her support and is described by colleagues as the ‘busiest bee in the hive, bringing sunshine to the ward every morning with her can-do attitude’.
