A Glossop couple have marked World Cancer Day with a generous donation for the benefit of cancer patients in Tameside and Glossop.

Peter and Margaret Hargreaves helped raise more than £750, enhancing care and services for those undergoing cancer treatment.

Peter is a member of Glossop Old Band, who held a special fundraising concert for Tameside’s Macmillan Unit on Sunday 2 February.

Money raised from the concert, which was a reflection and celebration of local talent, will go towards additional support for those receiving cancer care.

In addition to their fundraising exploits, Margaret, a former cancer patient, has continued to donate specialist cushions designed to provide comfort and support to patients during their chemotherapy treatment journey.

Emily Burgin, charity manager at Tameside and Glossop NHS Charity, said: “We are so grateful to the Hargreaveses for their generous donations and support of our Trust’s Macmillan Unit.

“All donations go a massive way to providing the little extras which make a huge difference to patients at the most difficult time.”
