Patients and visitors are advised of upcoming works outside our Emergency Department.
Multi-storey car park
The multi-storey car park, located on Fountain Street close to our Emergency Department, will be closed from Friday 27 October (6pm) to Monday 30 October (7am).
During the weekend closure, patients and visitors are asked to use the car park located opposite to the Charlesworth Building, or utilise the council car park on Darnton Road.
Fountain Street closure
From Monday 30 October for a period of approximately two weeks, a full road closure will be in place on Fountain Street outside our Emergency Department.
During this closure, all through traffic will be diverted around the site via Hartshead Close. Access to the multi-storey car park and Tameside Macmillan Unit car park, as well as pedestrian access, will be unaffected.
A temporary drop-off point for patients attending our Emergency Department will be in place on Hartshead Way.
The closures are essential as work continues on our £20 million Emergency Department redevelopment. Due to open in Spring 2024, the state-of-the-art development will bring our urgent care services under one roof.
We would also like to remind you of the temporary traffic lights on Fountain Street, which will remain in place this week (w/c 23 October). Relevant plans for buses will be put in place by Transport for Greater Manchester.
We thank you for your understanding while these works are ongoing.
